The groms are now professionals and the groms of the groms have grown up. Now the groms that are groms are riding and crashing more than ever! They might be crashing but they are learning while they’re wrecking themselves!

This past weekend some of the Coast longboarders made a trip to salt Spring Island for the 2nd annual slip and slide! A two day skate trip, the boys toured the island destroyed hills and got dirty doing it.

Big thanks to all the riders, sponsors and organizers for bringing everyone together! And thanks to Andy Russell for coming out to every race snapping pictures for all of us to see! Now here is a video on local coastie east van grom squad Charlie Darragh. The kids is sixteen years old and already a seasoned racer and free rider. Enjoy!

Switching gears as you all know I’m entering the stand up comedy life and I’m going for it! Its been a challenge trying to prepare for stand up comedy because its totally different than being an MC of a wedding or a action sports race announcer. I’ve been spending time organizing my set whatever that means. To remember some key punch lines is going to be a make or break scenario so I can only hope all will go well.

Last night I spent some cash and went and rented a recording studio rehearsal room to try and figure out what to do with all the words on my pages of words. The studio had a P.A. so I got to hear my voice and record myself while going through some of my material.

The first crack I had at the mic with the help of my mac book cheat sheet I was surprised that I ran eleven minutes straight. Although I didn’t take any time to catch my breath I did take note of some key things.

So how the heck does a guy remember all this material. Well, I think the answer is time and experience. So I realize with practice I can see that I could get used to doing this more than just Saturday night. I say this because even if I bomb I know that it’s a part of a learning process of being a comic and this will thicken my hide. But what the shit am I going to do Saturday?

Today I spent some of the day listening to some of my material and I got a little bit of an idea of how long some subjects take so I guess its just picking and choosing what the hell I’m going to use.

I just finished watching an interview by a dedicated radio beer show Just Here For The Beer 650 Cisl. They interviewed Sir Paul Mulgrew from Cariboo and Vancouver comedy legend, world record holder and Champion of Champions event organizer Patrick Maliha. They chatted with the hosts about the wonderful Cariboo beer the plan to plant a million trees in Western Canada by 2020.

On a side note you gotta love a beer company that supports the longboarding community year round and now they are growing trees for us longboarders to cut down to make boards. The interview also gives you an idea as to what to expect this Saturday at the edge water casinos FREE Variety Champions of Champions comedy competition that I’ll be popping my comedic cherry at!

Come support me. the doors open at 8:00pm Saturday night first show will be at 9:00pm sharp. I hope its not me but assume it is and show up on time!

Oh ya and guess what! They will be serving Cariboo BEER!

Vote Striker!

Strike out!
