CAMO-BOO

Whats going down friends? Today’s looking real good on you and you need to keep that up. We got events to remove the pants off the squarest of shoegazers, so let’s pull the ole lift and shift and get this thing started. The focus of our good fortune today is the continued support from the good folks at Cariboo, and the growing partnership with Camobear Records, a Vancouver based future HipHop label, that is bringing the Canadians that you love, to YOU! Up NEXT….ZZbra. (fingers twirling mustache mysteriously)

Zzbra Sexy Paper

WHO eez ZZBRA?

Moka Only (Swollen Members) and Evil Ebenezer (The Best New Voice in Canadian Rap) combine with cinematographic megamook Stuey Kubrick, to showcase the live version of ZZbra, the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for a movie that Will Never Be.
And why Will It Never Be? Because Kubrick incinerated the original master cut of the film before it could be duplicated, thus consigning the grossly overbudget film to the ashes/asses of history.

HOWEVER:

(Indiana Moke and Sherlock Ebenezer on the chase) One important remnant of that filthy era was the ZZBRA soundtrack, created by two SilverFoxes in the prime, and stands as a creative high point for the pair. Their reckless pursuit of bringing their characters to life became an addiction as well as an artform. Their acting careers have since crumbled, but those wild days, roaming the Serengeti plains, the ever wilder live shows deep within the jungle canopy, ever deeper and darker went the music, while bad mojo and evil spirits worked the night. While the soundtrack recording was fraught with confusion and crisis, Moka and Evil’s animal instincts and protracted debauchery brought a revelatory glory to this chaos, and now the live show they’ve planned to stage it, is nothing short of grandiose.

Peek-A-BOO ZZbra Cross-Canada Tour:

So the big news is CARIBOO (an ANIMAL) is sponsoring ZZBRA (multiple ANIMALS) on their Cross-Canada Megatour. In combination with Exclaim Magazine, these professional entertainers will bring you an outside-the-box live show, with comedy, trumpets, circus animals (small) and dancing rap music parties like Mama used to make.Where you see the striped ZZbra, you’ll see the BOO. Check out their upcoming tour schedule here (*link).

Augustown Concert Series

Friday, Jan.13 2012, marked the first Reggae show of the six part fundraiser, presented by Element-Eighty Entertainment and Stronger Than Before Productions, with proceeds going to building a new roof over the Bethlehem Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augustown, Jamaica. The event is being held at the Grandview Legion Hall on Commercial Drive with live performances by industry leaders in reggae and hip hop. For the kickoff, Juno Award Nominee, Tony Anthony, blessed the stage with guests Daddy Roy and the Messenger Band, dancehall sensation Nadera, R&B/Soul singer Sarah K, breakthrough Reggae singer Dwaine Messado and Sugar Cane. I volunteered at the event and I was very impressed with the live band and the amazing sound quality which complimented the breath-taking vocalists. (Augustown 2 will be March.16th head-lined by the Roots and Culture Brown, so come enjoy some live music AND help the youth of Augustown, Jamaica!)

KOTD Ground Zero

Girls and Bones.

Get your Bone On!

This battle went down Saturday night at the Media Club, its dark underground vibe the perfect place to host this premiere grimy rap battle. I had to roll through to support my girl, Julezee (the first female in Ground Zero) as she took on La Sparka. Although she lost the battle, I gotta give her props for having the tits to step to the mic in front of a packed house of hip hop heads. The host, Emotionz, also hit the stage with a live set and showcased his crazy beatbox skills. Next on the agenda, I’m backing up my homie Sirreal as we open for Bone Thugs n Harmony Jan. 21, 2012 at The Queens in Nanaimo, BC. Shit is gonna be crazy so get your tickets before it sells out!
