What’s Crackin’: Whistler Weekend

WhisBoo
Whistler is officially open as of Nov.18/2011! One week earlier than expected. As per usual, I got myself a season pass and plan to hit the mountain as often as possible. My roommate and I went up to Whistler on Sunday to experience opening weekend. She’s a skier and I’m a boarder… obviously, I’m cooler. For mid November, the conditions were great! Packed powder on the groomers, 70 cm base, cloudy skies and good visibility all day. Only downside is that it was freaky cold!! -12 degrees at the peak and -9 mid mountain. Brrrrr!! I definitely need to get some new gloves because my hands were frozen. I was surprised to see small line-ups on the mountain; perhaps the cold weather scared people away. We ended up running into some of our Whistler crew though. Holla! Since only the Emerald Express and the Big Red Chair were open, we had to hike up to Harmony to get some fresh powder. The pow was worth the hike.
SnowBoo
This season is supposedly the return of La Nina, forecasted to bring greater than average snowfall, so it should be a kick-ass season. Blackcomb will be open on Thursday, November 24, so I plan on boarding next weekend as well. Cheers to all my fellow boarders and skiers! It is my personal goal to change the official mountain beer from PBR to Cariboo Honey Lager this season. Let’s be honest, it tastes better and it’s British Columbian. Join me at the top of 7th heaven sometime this season for a Boo!

Baby Boo.
