It’s time to start the year off fresh with some 2012 New Year’s Resolutions! Stats show that forty-five percent of people make resolutions. You may not write them down or have a specific goal to attain but most people have a thought in the back of their mind as to what they would like to change in the New Year. Here are the Top 5 New Year Resolutions for 2012:

1. Get your workout on

Quite possibly the most popular resolution of them all! Let’s face it, after consuming large amounts of turkey dinner and drinking copious litres of alcohol, most of us can stand to lose a couple pounds. Vancouver is one of the most active cities in Canada, so fitness goals are always a winner. Grab you Lululemon pants and hit the seawall!

Baby Boo Tip: Make specific fitness goals. If you just say you want to work out more… you probably won’t.

2. Stop eating junk food

We all know that diet and exercise go hand in hand, so if you wanna lose some weight this New Year, you might wanna cut back on some calories. The majority of people go on extreme diets that cause to you lose water weight in the first few weeks, but are impossible to maintain for longer than two months.

Baby Boo Tip: Make small changes in your diet that you can maintain for the rest of your life. A balanced diet always wins so don’t try to cut out all the carbs from your diet.

3. Quit Smoking

If you are a smoker, then what better time to quit than in the New Year? Definitely a hard hobby to kick, but I’ll give you mad props if you can do it! I’m proud to say that I am not a smoker, but I know a lot of people who are. Save your lungs and switch to something more refreshing… Cariboo perhaps?

Baby Boo Tip: If you have tried in the past and failed, perhaps you should try a patch or gum. Surrounding yourself with friends that are non-smokers tends to help as well.

4. Stop Wasting Money

Do you really need to eat out every day and buy expensive clothing? Is it really necessary own fifty pairs of shoes or four sixty inch flat screen TVs? I think most people want to cut back on the amount money that they spend and save for more important things. Whether it be a new house or car, or travelling around the world, saving a couple bucks a day can add up and make your goals more attainable.

Baby Boo Tip: Why buy expensive beer when you can buy a six pack of Cariboo for under $10? Think of the potential savings!

5. Spend more time with friends and family

I’ll be honest, I don’t spend a lot of time with my family. This was the first Christmas in 17 years that I spent with my mom. I might talk to my Dad once every two weeks…or months… personally, I know I can put in a little more effort. If you feel the same way, maybe this year you should spend more time with the ones you love.

Baby Boo Tip: What better way to spend with your loved ones than sipping a can of boo? Cheers Mom!

Happy New Year Everyone!
